Treemendous School Makeovers
Since 2004 Mazda New Zealand has been a proud partner of Project Crimson, forging a shared commitment toward protecting and enhancing New Zealand’s natural environment for future generations.
As part of this support venture, the Mazda Foundation and the Project Crimson Trust launched Treemendous School Makeovers in 2007. This sees four schools selected each year to receive a $10,000 Treemendous School Makeover to create an outdoor learning space and substantial native plantings. We have also created lizard gardens, planted fruit orchards, built pathways and outdoor stages. Visit www.treemendous.org.nz and have a look at some of the Past School Makeovers that we have done for some more ideas.
The initiative is about encouraging environmental education in schools and teaching children and the wider community about the importance of the environment through the planting of native plants and the creation of outdoor educational classrooms.
Project Crimson is a charitable conservation Trust that aims to encourage and undertake the protection, conservation and restoration of pohutukawa, rata, and other New Zealand native flora and associated ecosystems, through partnerships, planting projects, education, awareness raising and research.
